The Strokes burst onto the scene just a few years back and, championed by the NME, their fresh New York garage rock style blew away the so-called New Acoustic movement that was threatening to develop and had everyone jumping around to rock songs again. After only two albums, they had already made a big impact.
After a gap, they have released a third album, which, at nearly twice the length of either of its predecessors, has a deeper, more introspective sound. At the time of writing, it has yet to be fully explored.
